Lisa Solanics began her study of dance when only three years old. By the time she was a senior in high school her instructor invited Lisa to teach a few classes herself. Although she started with only a handful of students, her students loved her teaching style so much that the class tripled in size over the following months. After graduation Lisa became a permanent member of the teaching staff and after many years took an assignment as the primary teacher at another dance studio. When the owner decided to retire, Lisa took over the business and founded Dance FX in 2002. We visited with Lisa recently, and listened as she provided this overview of Dance FX's offerings;
Dance FX offers instruction in the art of dance to students ranging in age from four years through adulthood. We teach jazz, tap, hip-hop, ballet, breakdance, pointe, lyrical, and tiny toddler dance. Our studio provides a wholesome, family environment and has grown to become a home away from home for our students.
Children from ages four through six take part in our tailored dance class that teaches a combination of ballet and tap. Once they turn six, they then choose the discipline they wish to study. Older students who begin to study here are placed in a class of students who are their own age and have similar experience. We strive to ensure the class is both comfortable and will challenge their abilities while providing the opportunity to learn.
We offer competitive teams for those who are more serious about dancing as well as once-a-week classes for recreational dancers looking to have some fun and exercise while dancing with their friends. Each year we host a recital where dancers can demonstrate the skills they have learned, and we also attend several dance competitions each year. This year the five teams we are taking to competitions include an elite company, a junior company, a senior company, a hip-hop company, and a hip-hop crew.
